"… to be used for nature study and as a preserve for birds and other wildlife."- Carmen Hambleton Warner
The time for green and white is starting early this year, which is par for the course this spring. A few new things are in bloom, most of which are – you guessed it – green and white! Our fourth orchid is in bloom now, large-leaved twayblade. There is a nice specimen growing along the shelter trail. Not much else to report right now, but I’m sure that will change soon! Here’s the new list:
Spiderwort
Foxglove (cultivated)
Arrowwood Viburnum
Mock Orange
Multiflora Rose
Sweet Scented Waterlily
Carolina Rose (?)
Twayblade Orchid
Blue-eyed Grass
Two-lined Cynthia
Hawkweed spp.
We visited Wahkeena Nature Preserve a couple weeks ago, and I just wanted to let you know we did a write up of the preserve at our blog (favorable, of course… what a great place!). If you are interested, you can view the post here.
